Giving

John’s Gospel says that God loved the world so much that He gave. He didn’t give you wealth or health, but something far greater… Himself (2 Cor 8:9; Phil 2:5-8).

Thank you for helping support the advancement of the Gospel through Renovation.

Start Your Generosity Journey Today

When you become a Christian, you don’t change overnight. It’s a process of becoming more like Jesus. Generosity is a part of your discipleship process. Think of it as a journey, not a destination. We invite you to join us on the journey by taking these three steps.

Why Give Generously?

Giving generously is an act of worship that flows from a heart surrendered to Jesus. It starts with the realization that God owns everything and we are simply managers of the resources He entrusts to us for a little while. When we give, we break the grip that money can have on our lives and align our hearts with God’s mission. It is a grateful response to the Gospel and the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made for us.

  • Psalm 24:1-2 (NIV) "The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters."

As we acknowledge God in His rightful place as Creator, Owner, and Sustainer of all things, we submit to His higher spiritual authority through the tithe (Genesis 14:18-20). In Hebrew, the word tithe literally means tenth. In recognition of our stewarding, rather than owning, all the Lord has given us, we bring to Him our first and best.. a tenth of all our increase.

  • Matthew 25:21 (NIV) "His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’"

Much like a banker or a financial advisor, God has placed us in a fiduciary role over the money and positions He has allowed us to acquire. We act in a way that serves His best interests. Those interests and instructions lead us to seek the benefit of others through our generosity and care.

  • Mark 12:41-44 (NIV) "Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, 'Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.'"

Where your treasure is, that is where your heart will be also. Money is the chief rival for our hearts. How we handle "worldly wealth" is a test that shows whether we can be trusted with the true riches of heaven.

  • Jesus offers a counterintuitive path to happiness: less stuff brings more blessing.

Our materialistic culture declares, “He who dies with the most toys dies happiest,” but Jesus taught, “Life doesn’t consist in an abundance of possessions” because “it’s more blessed to give than receive” (Luke 12:15; Acts 20:35). This explains why you experience far more joy when you give rather than spending on yourself. According to Jesus’s math, living on 90% is greater than living on 100%. His followers refuse to shrink their lives by hoarding. You expand your life by giving.

  • John 3:16 (NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

John says that God loved the world so much that He gave. He didn’t give you wealth or health, but something far greater: Himself (2 Corinthians 8:9; Philippians 2:5-8). This life of generosity brings incredible personal joy, as Proverbs 11:25 promises: "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."

Renovation Giving Pathway

Understanding the journey of biblical financial stewardship can be difficult. We often see the issue through our own lens, missing the uniqueness of God's miraculous economy. Here at Renovation, we recognize there are five different stages along the path.

  • I've never given to God at Renovation before, but I'm ready to take that step.

Action: Give a gift to Renovation for the first time.

  • I've given to God at Renovation in the past, but I want to intentionally give on a regular basis.

Action: Determine the amount you'd like to give and how frequently you'd like to give that amount (weekly, biweekly, monthly) consider creating a recurring gift online.

  • I've been giving to God regularly at Renovation, but I want to begin giving 10% of my income as a biblical tithe.

Action: calculate what 10% of your monthly income is, then give that amount in total with regularity. You can split it up into however many gifts work best for you. Many people find that biweekly giving. (or each time they get paid) is easiest.

  • I've been tithing 10% of my income, but I want to stretch that percentage to a level that is outside of my comfort zone.

Action: Determine a new percentage over and above 10% that you want to give and move forward thoughtfully. For example, this could be giving additionally to our missions or legacy fund, mortgage pay down, or other specific causes near to your heart.

  • I already give above and beyond my tithe to God at Renovation, but I want to make a Kingdom impact that will outlive me.

Action: Consider assets you own that could be leverage to support the ministries at Renovation. For example, it’s possible to set aside a planned gift in your will or trust as part of your estate plan.

FAQ about Giving

  • We believe that following Jesus means surrendering our hearts in every area, including our finances. Scripture teaches us to bring our "first and best" back to God through the local church as an act of worship and gratitude. By tithing to your local church, you are directly fueling the mission to make Christ known in our immediate community and around the world. While we encourage you to support other Kingdom causes, we believe the local church is the primary vehicle God uses to change lives.

  • At Renovation, we recognize that a steward’s primary responsibility is faithfulness. We maintain strict internal policies and safeguards for cash management to ensure every dollar is handled with excellence. We also conduct regular financial reviews to maintain high levels of accountability and trust with the resources God has entrusted to us through your generosity.

  • We treat our budget as a narrative of our mission rather than just a spreadsheet. Every dollar given is intentionally allocated to support our core ministries.. such as Kids, Students, and Small Groups.. and to fund our local and global mission partners. We regularly evaluate our effectiveness to ensure we are investing in areas that have the greatest spiritual impact for the Kingdom.

  • Yes. Renovation Church is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. To help you track your contributions, we provide annual giving statements that detail your financial partnership with our ministry. You can access your personal giving history at any time through the Church Center app.

  • Absolutely. Stewardship involves managing all the unique "treasures" God has given us, which can include physical assets and possessions beyond just currency. If you are interested in making a non-cash contribution.. such as stocks, property, or other assets.. please reach out to our team so we can help you navigate that process and maximize your impact for God's Kingdom.

  • You can view your personal giving statement and history using the Church Center app.

  • The easiest and best way to give is to set up a recurring gift on our website or through the the Church Center app. Establishing a regular rhythm of giving helps you prioritize God in your finances and allows the church to plan consistently for ministry impact.

While you can use a credit card to give, we do not recommend it for two reasons:

    1. The church incurs fees from credit card companies. This means that part of your gift will go to the credit card company, not the church.

    2. We know that some credit card users will incur debt by giving in this manner, which we believe the Bible discourages.

Thus, we encourage ACH giving from a bank account. You can set up an ACH transfer online or in the Church Center app.
