Our Story

Renovation’s story has always been about more than buildings, programs, or growth. It’s been about God changing lives.

The journey began in August of 2014 with a vision to reach people with the unchanging message of the gospel. What started as a small group gathering in a local coffee shop soon grew into something larger. Those early gatherings led to the first Sunday meetings at the Ramada Inn as people began encountering Jesus, building relationships, and becoming part of a growing church family.

As the church continued to grow, God kept opening doors. Renovation eventually moved into the current property on Cook Road. Over the years, that space has undergone renovation, which serves as a fitting picture of what God does in people’s lives. What once served as the original sanctuary is now the Kids building, and the gym on the property has since been transformed into the Worship Center where the church gathers today.

But this is not ultimately a story about spaces or buildings. Buildings can be renovated, but God renovates hearts.

Throughout the years, Renovation has experienced seasons of growth, change, challenges, and new beginnings. Much has changed since those first coffee shop meetings, but one thing remains constant: a desire to see the city reached with the hope of Jesus Christ.

Countless stories of God’s faithfulness continue to unfold. Lives surrendered to Christ. Families restored. People finding freedom. Marriages strengthened. Baptisms celebrated. Friendships formed. People discovering purpose and stepping into the calling God has placed on their lives.

Renovation Church has roots within the Southern Baptist tradition and continues to maintain Southern Baptist Association ties, while functioning today as a non-denominational church. Though church structures and affiliations provide support and partnership, the ultimate commitment is to faithfully teach God’s Word, make disciples, and reach people with the gospel.

Today, Renovation continues to move forward with that same heartbeat. God is still changing lives, still drawing people to Himself, and still building His church. There is deep gratitude for what He has done, excitement for what He is doing, and expectation for what is still ahead.

This is the story of Renovation! More importantly, it’s a story God is still writing.
